Matthew Session 24

The final lesson in Chuck Missler's series of lectures on The Book of Matthew.
The Resurrection of Yeshua.
I have something running through my mind. Purely MY speculation, something I am researching in my studies, and may not get an answer to. I thought I would say it out loud.
Why would Roman soldiers be the ones guarding the tomb of Jesus?
Pilate detested these priests who forced his hand into something he did not want to do, crucify the LORD on Passover, yet had NOT the strength of character (balls) to deny.
Pilate states outright his troops won't be guarding any tomb of the Jews-
and I never heard him recant this.

«On the next day, which followed the Day of Preparation, the chief priests and Pharisees gathered together to Pilate, saying, “Sir, we remember, while He was still alive, how that deceiver said, ‘After three days I will rise.’ Therefore command that the tomb be made secure until the third day, lest His disciples come by night and steal Him away, and say to the people, ‘He has risen from the dead.’ So the last deception will be worse than the first.” Pilate said to them, “You have a guard; go your way, make it as secure as you know how.” So they went and made the tomb secure, sealing the stone and setting the guard.»
MATTHEW 27:62-66

Pilate has ZERO reason to:
A. Guard the tomb
B. Have ANY incentive
C. It's festivals time and he probably needs all hands on deck
D. Why would he guard a dead Jew? Any Jew?

Makes no sense. I believe - AND THIS IS PURE SPECULATION, MY OWN OPINION - it was a Jewish guard. And they bribed Roman guards to say they were guarding the tomb. That's my hypothesis -

HOWEVER-
This is what it says in Matthew:
«Now when they were going, behold, some of the watch came into the city, and shewed unto the chief priests all the things that were done. And when they were assembled with the elders, and had taken counsel, they gave large money unto the soldiers, Saying, Say ye, His disciples came by night, and stole him away while we slept. And if this come to the governor's ears, we will persuade him, and secure you. So they took the money, and did as they were taught: and this saying is commonly reported among the Jews until this day.»
Matthew 28:11-15

"Watch" is not soldiers or guards. It is to be on alert, sleepless.
I will have to research these words in the Greek and Hebrew.
Or you could do it - and just tell me, lol.

Second point of order....
Why does NOBODY recognize Jesus whenever he appears to them?

The disciples fishing when the reached shore-
they knew it was Him from the pattern of not catching any fish, then he tells them try the right side (lolz, I mean...the Lord has a GREAT sense of humor, the right side of the boat...lol are you kidding me?)
and they haul in One-Hundred-and Fifty-Three MEGA fish...and the nets do not tear.
But it was NOT his looks which tipped them off-
