We are exposed to lead whenever we shoot, and other hobbies as well. Lead from the bullets and primers atomizes into the air during the firing process. Lead intake is more intense when indoors, due to the confined space and the amount of ventilation. Shoot outdoors whenever possible. Wash your hands with "DeLead" soap, and/or wipe your hands with DeLead wipes afterwards. Indoors, pay attention to the airflow. If you want to be extra careful indoors, wear an N95 mask.

Extra precautions can include:
-Go to your PCP and get regularly tested for your BLL (Blood Lead Level). Family too, especially if they don't shoot. Find out what you might be bringing home.
-Change shirt/shoes after you leave range (Change your shirt in the restroom, change your shoes BEFORE getting into your vehicle and bag your shoes).
-Take a shower when you get home. Use DeLead, then regular soap.
-Have specific clothes for shooting, wash them separately from other clothes, run cleaning cycle on washer after washing them to make sure no residue remains.

-Use gloves when cleaning weapons, picking up used brass, and while reloading.
-Wet tumble brass.
-Have a specific area easily cleaned for cleaning weapons and reloading.
