Woman Gets DEPORTED for Walking Dog on Beach - Bodycam

In this Volusia Sheriff's Office body camera footage, deputies arrest 27-year-old Angie Sandoval-Padro for walking her pug on New Smyrna Beach in an area where dogs are prohibited. The routine ordinance violation check takes a dramatic turn when deputies discover her immigration status.

The bodycam video captures the tense beach encounter where a bystander must translate for Sandoval-Padro, who only speaks Spanish. The deputy can be heard stating, "I'd much rather go put drug dealers in jail, but I have no choice" . Despite this being a minor county ordinance violation, the Volusia Sheriff's deputy contacts ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) regarding her status.

According to arrest affidavits, "Deputies contacted ICE and they advised they would place a detainer on Angie Sandoval-Padro at VCBJ, advising she was in the United States illegally and would be under removal proceedings" . The woman, a Colombian national living in Orlando, was booked into Volusia County Jail on July 12th.

The situation turns emotional as the woman becomes distressed about her children. A translator explains to the deputy: "She's sad because the kids and he said, if you can take him, but not her" . Despite ICE initially stating they would place a detainer, court records show Sandoval-Padro was able to bond out of jail the next day on July 13th after posting a $1,000 bond .

Volusia Sheriff Mike Chitwood defended the arrest, stating "We have to enforce the law. We don't make the law" . When questioned about racial profiling concerns, Chitwood responded emphatically: "That's (expletive) and we're not going to wear that label" . The sheriff explained that under current immigration directives, his deputies must contact ICE even for non-violent violations.
