Grudges

We humans are so susceptible to holding grudges. We are like little batteries that store offenses and unforgiveness. That’s what a grudge is, holding on to unforgiveness. A Hebrew word for grudge paints the picture of cherishing something harmful like holding tight to a poisonous snake.

As a pastor once told me, holding on to a grudge is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die. Jesus explained that if we do not forgive others around us, then our Heavenly Father will not forgive us. Wow, what a scary concept. This teaching shows how holding on to grudges causes us to break both the first and second most important commandments.

This teaching also shows how to prevent grudges by doing what Jesus did when it comes to offenses and trespasses.
