Hadley P. Arkes (born 1940) is an American political scientist and the founding director of the James Wilson Institute on Natural Rights and the American Founding. A longtime professor at Amherst College, he is known for his work on natural law, moral philosophy, and constitutional interpretation. Arkes was a key advocate for the Born-Alive Infants Protection Act, signed into U.S. law in 2002. A convert to Catholicism, he integrates faith and reason in his defense of moral truth in public life. He continues to write and lecture widely on law, ethics, and the American founding tradition.
