Christian persecution is on the rise globally, with over 380 million Christians now living in areas subject to high levels of persecution and discrimination, according to the 2024 World Watch List, representing a significant increase from 340 million in 2021.
During his speech at the United Nations General Assembly on September 23, 2025, former U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Christianity is "the most persecuted religion on the planet today" and called for greater protection of religious liberty.
