Don't Hold Back Your Other Muscle Groups, Cheater
Wrist straps are for cheaters.... and I advise using them sometimes. Ok, technically, they are cheating because they are assisting you in holding, thus its not your natural raw strength. But why hold your hamstrings or back muscles back because you can't hold the weight long enough due to grip limitations? Your back and hamstrings on compound lifts will get much stronger quicker than your grip will. Use straps sometimes on the compound/heavy lifts you could get more reps with. Try without them for the first set or two and then you can use straps to get other muscle groups more stimulus. Train grip separately as well to keep that improving (dead hangs, farmer carry, heaby barbell holds, etc). Grip strength is vital. And you'll improve grip very slightly if you always use them, but there will be a significant grip deficit.
