Art and Virtue ep3 Self expression or self gratification? What's our Motivation

Is much of art driven by self-gratification or personal expression? How does this affect its ability to reflect virtues like justice or loveliness, and does it diminish its impact?
Philippians 2:3-4 Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. 4 Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.

Galatians 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, 20 idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, 21 envy,[a] drunkenness, orgies, and things like these.
