The Abuse of Innocents

This song is about my life and the abuse I went through for 40 years from my abusive alcoholic father even up to the time he passed away, and the brutal torture my brothers and sister and I went through for a year that seemed like an eternity, when I being the oldest was only 7 years old, and how it all affected 54 years of my life and beyond. Now I'm not looking for any sympathy. I just want the public to be aware, because we don't hear about it enough, that child abuse is rampant right here in our own county to the tune of at least one in seven children in the U.S. experiencing some form of abuse or neglect. Think about that! One out of seven children we see are abused in some way. What the heck is wrong with us that we allow this to happen to the most vulnerable, and innocent of our society. It casts a dark shadow on us as adults and our failure to protect our children. So many just sweep it under the rug as if the abuse doesn't exist or they just refuse to believe it does. Well I'm telling you, it does exist and we need to start doing something about it, cause quite frankly not near enough is being done to protect our children!
