One of the problems for the home experimenter is getting hold of parts. The problem is they are often hard to get hold of and when you can get them they are often expensive. However, there are other ways. In this video i dismantle an old microwave i got from a scrap man for the transformer, the high voltage diode and the high voltage capacitor. There was however a whole load of other interesting bits and pieces. I paid £5 for the oven and got about £60 worth of parts out of it. The Transformer i ended up using in one of my Flynn motor replication experiments. The Capacitor I plan to use to start exploding water.
