President Donald Trump delivered strong remarks against the antifascist movement known as ANTIFA, calling it a serious threat and promising a vigorous federal response against those who have carried out violent acts against ICE agents and other law enforcement officials. Trump claimed that far-left groups have surveilled ICE facilities, shared building diagrams, and published photos of specific agents who have been targeted with threats.

In his address, the president cited several incidents that he described as evidence of an “epidemic” of violence inspired by ANTIFA: an assault by militants on an ICE facility in Texas in July, a sniper attack in Dallas against another local ICE facility that resulted in two deaths and left a note directed at the agents, and the murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, which Trump linked to the broader climate of political violence. These examples formed part of the president’s argument for imposing tougher measures against the movement and its financial backers.

Trump emphasized the legality of the federal actions he proposes: “Everything we are doing is totally legal. What they are doing is not legal,” he said, warning governors and mayors —specifically mentioning Portland and Chicago— of their responsibility for allowing violence and impunity to persist. He also stated that the government will “thoroughly investigate” those funding operations connected to ANTIFA, describing some agitators as “paid anarchists” and asserting that the administration will be able to identify their sponsors.

The president’s statements came during a roundtable held at the White House on ANTIFA, attended by senior officials and journalists who hold critical views of the movement.
