PART 2 THE GOSPEL AND THE BOOK OF 1ST ENOCH -A COMPARISON STUDY

Enoch is quoted several times in Scripture. Why should we care? It is an historical text and it is abundantly clear in the New Testament that the disciples were very well aware of it. For the same reason Bible scholars all over the world study Josephus. These historical books add depth and answer questions. The 2nd Temple Jewish people during the time of Christ are familiar with Enoch; they expected their audience to know what they were talking about and they did know.

We try to look at Scripture with our modern day thinking and then make the puzzle pieces fit into our modern day box. It doesn't fit and we lack knowledge that the Intertestamental Period people, including the Disciples and Christ knew. So, in this newly constructed box and without knowledge, we skew what the authors of the New Testament are trying to convey.
