In a nutshell: Palestine solution

On Friday, September 12th, at the United Nations headquarters in New York, the world’s diplomats once again took up one of the most enduring and divisive questions of modern history: the future of Palestine.

In a vote that drew overwhelming support, the General Assembly passed what’s being called the "New York Declaration," a resolution reasserting the so-called 'two-state solution."

Sponsored by France and Saudi Arabia, the measure calls for the peaceful creation of a Palestinian state alongside Israel. The tally: 142 countries voted in favor, 10 against, and 12 abstained.
