Siskel & Ebert: 10-3-87

Note: Since I posted this, I heard both Ron Neal and Diane Keaton passed away this week. They will all be missed.

Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert reviews "Chuck Berry: Hail! Hail! Rock 'n' Roll" (A Brilliant Rock & Roll Documentary on the legendary man who was turning 60 at the time and celebrated at a tribute concert with new friends (Eric Clapton, Bruce Springsteen, Linda Ronstadt, Keith Richards .etc) and old friends (Little Richard, Bo Diddley, Etta ames .etc). I love it!); "Like Father, Like Son" (Siskel & Ebert were way too hard on a fantasy comedy body switching formula that started with the original "Freaky Friday" (1976) and continues the trend during the late 80s. This time, on a male perspective with Dudley Moore and Kirk Cameron from "Growing Pains" as a rich doctor and father and a teenager who switched after a serum was place in a Tabasco sauce bottle accidentally. Also stars, Sean Astin, Margaret Colin, Catherine Hicks and Patrick O'Neal. I enjoy it as a fun, hilarious comedy, it's not perfect!); "Baby Boom" (Excellent Romantic Comedy about a successful businesswoman who inherits a baby daughter and things go wrong before they go right. Written By Nancy Meyers and Co-Written and Directed By: Charles Shyer. Starring: Diane Keaton, Harold Ramis, Sam Wanamaker, Sam Shepard and James Spader.); "Big Shots" (An Adventure Comedy about two young opposite boys from Chicago who gets into trouble from gangsters. Directed By: Robert Mandel. Starring: Ricky Busker, Darius McCrary, Paul Winfield, Robert Prosky and Ron Neal, who just recently passed away this week.) and "Matewan".
