WGN-TV producer detained during ICE enforcement action in Lincoln Square

On Friday, October 10, 2025, Debbie Brockman, a longtime video editor and producer for Chicago's WGN-TV, was forcibly detained by U.S. Border Patrol agents during an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operation in the Lincoln Square neighborhood.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) claimed Brockman assaulted an officer by throwing objects at their vehicle after agents rammed her car to "create an opening" for the operation. A DHS spokesperson, Tricia McLaughlin, described it as part of a "dangerous trend" of resistance amid heightened enforcement.
