Catoosa GOP Candidate Ballot Access Denial - Part 2 -October 10, 2025
Plaintiffs sue Catoosa County GOP for Attorney's fees prior to the final order in the main causes of action, including SUVC2024000205, SUVC2024208, SUVC 2024000211, SUVC2024000213, SUVC2024000323, and SUVC2024000580 all stemming from the Catoosa County GOP's Rules to ensure candidates seeking to run on the Republican ticket uphold the tenets of the Republican Party Platform. While the history of prior court rulings on the matter are rare, the presumption that a party has rights to Freedom of Association as codified in the 1st Amendment has yet to be adjudicated. Nonetheless, there is also the outstanding issue yet to be resolved of whether or not a political party retains any authority to participate in the ballot access process after converting from a Title 21 (Election Law) Political Party to a Title 14 (Corporate Law) Nonprofit Corporation, as have the Georgia Republican Party and 46 incorporated county party affiliates.
