The Secret Blind Man Tried To Hide Until The End.

Stephen Lang's Norman Nordstrom lives a rather lonely life with his eleven-year-old daughter, Phoenix, and his dog, Rottweiler Shadow. During their conversation, Norman informs Phoenix that a fire destroyed their previous home, tragically taking her mother's life.
Her buddy and retired Army Ranger, Hernandez, drops off food supplies to Norman once a week. Hernandez, who is Norman's sole social link, talks a hesitant Norman into letting her take Phoenix shopping so that she can get out of the home more. Hernandez arrives at a petrol station to refill as they are out and about together. In the restroom of the gas station, Phoenix is surprised by an associate of the gang. Despite Shadow's best efforts to frighten the person away, he nonetheless orders the gang to return home with Phoenix.
The gang murders Hernandez in a surprise attack shortly after dropping off Phoenix. The gang then heads to Norman's residence. After the gang members take Shadow hostage. The group stealthily enters into the home to abduct Phoenix while Norman searches outside for Shadow, who he thinks must have vanished, as his food dish is still full.
