Is Boots Ennis Being Held to a Different Standard than Vergil Ortiz?

In the aftermath of the Boots Ennis versus Uisma Lima-Bean fight, we've heard it all. According to Eddie Hearn, Boots is the best fighter in boxing. He would beat Crawford easily.

He would beat Vergil Ortiz, Bakhram, and Sebastian Fundora in the same night. Fighters from all over the world are terrified at the mere mention of Boots' name. Eddie Hearn is still trying to build his client, Boots Ennis' name by attaching him to Terence Crawford.

The truth of the matter is this. Terence Crawford and Boots Ennis will never fight. Last time I checked, Crawford doesn't owe Boots anything. When Boots volunteered his services to help prepare Canelo to beat Bud, Boots fans and supporters said Boots doesn't owe Crawford anything.

Do y'all remember that? Boots supporters said Boots owes no loyalty to anyone by helping Canelo prepare to defeat Terence Crawford. Now, that same group of people is saying Bud owes Boots a fight.

You can't make this sh*t up. The double standard and hypocrisy when it comes to Bud are at an all-time high. Like Bud told me not long ago, "There's always a double standard when it comes to me.

My haters and critics have been wrong for so long that they're hoping to find someone who can beat me." That ship has sailed. Boots is gonna have to build his brand up from the muscle and not off another man's name.

As it relates to Vergil Ortiz. He's not looked upon as the next Terence Crawford, or next Canelo Alvarez, or the next Julio Cesar Chavez. So, he doesn't get the hype that Boots get.

This is why there is no pressure for Vergil to fight the top guys like there is for Boots. Yet, Ortiz is looked upon as a superstar according to Oscar Dela Hoya. So, Ortiz is gonna have to put the same work in as any other elite fighter to prove he's the best in the division.

It's the same sh*t certain media outlets and social media boxing fans do to Devin Haney. You want Haney to be everybody, while you crown your favorite fighter the best without having to prove it in the ring against his contemporaries.

Your position changes based on your emotional attachment to that particular fighter. So, let's keep that same energy.

As for the Crawford vs Ennis chatter. That so-called fight is dead in the water, and those are the facts.
