Assassin's Creed Shadows - Attack on Toneyama Post Town, Part Two - The Weight of the Blade

My plan holds. My movements sharpen. Not perfect—no—but I feel something shifting deep within me. My steps grow quieter. My resolve, stronger. The shadows obey. The wind follows. The bandits fall. And yet, this isn’t without cost. I do not seek their lives. I seek their loot—the stolen mon, the supplies, and most of all, the statue of Shinran. But they offer me no quarter. And so, I offer none in return.

Each time I draw my blade, I feel its weight—not just in steel, but in consequence. The more I take, the more I change. But I do not flinch. These men would take from me far more if given the chance. I must not—will not—allow that. I press deeper into the town, slipping through alleys, scaling rooftops, prying open doors, and dispatching those who stand in my way.

The statue is still out of reach. The bandits still prowl. But I am no longer the same shadow who entered this place. Each step brings me closer—to my objective, yes—but also to the version of myself I must become to lead this war. The hesitation is thinning. The fear is fading. Only the mission remains.
