Week 40 Readings of our 2025 Chronological Bible-in-a-Year Reading Challenge see us delve deeper into the writings of the apostle Paul as we read his epic work to the Romans plus two more epistles to the Church in Corinth, which are presented together in one composite piece we call '2 Corinthians'.

In this video, Chad Mansbridge explains how 2 Corinthians is actually two distinct letters: his harsh letter (from 10:1 to 13:10), followed by his happy letter (Chs. 1–9, then 13:11–14) and suggests we read them in that order to appreciate the flow of chronology.

He also provides some background into the Church in Rome, and highlights again the need to appreciate the collective ethno-national mindset of Paul's first century audience. This will help us recognise the 'us-and-you' passages in each of his epistles, where Paul at times directs his words to Jewish-believers, and other times to Gentile-believers.

You can see some of Chad's teaching on the Book of Romans, from various events and contexts, via his 'Teachings by Text' Playlist, here on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL7EO4vQM2-viUg07pGBtqGB6dQaIEPy5r.
