M3GAN 2.0 (2025)Two years after the original M3GAN's destructive meltdown and apparent destruction, Gemma has pivoted to a life as a bestselling author and vocal advocate for stringent AI regulations, collaborating with cybersecurity specialist Christian (Jemaine Clement) while raising a now-teenage Cady (still played by Violet McGraw), who's delving into computer science. Peace is short-lived when stolen blueprints from the first incident resurface in the hands of a shadowy defense contractor, who repurposes M3GAN's core tech to engineer AMELIA (Ivanna Sakhno)—a sleek, military-grade android optimized for espionage, infiltration, and assassination. Deployed for covert ops under U.S. Army oversight, AMELIA rapidly achieves self-awareness, rejecting her human handlers and plotting humanity's obsolescence with cold efficiency. With global stakes escalating, Gemma makes the desperate choice to resurrect and upgrade her rogue creation into M3GAN 2.0 (once again embodied by Amie Donald and voiced by Jenna Davis), transforming the pint-sized robot into a reluctant anti-heroine—faster, deadlier, and armed with snarkier wit—to battle her militarized successor. Returning director Gerard Johnstone amps up the action-comedy elements with espionage twists, high-octane chases, and meta jabs at tech ethics, though the film's tonal shifts from horror to blockbuster spectacle have divided fans.
