I just watched CalebIsSalty’s “YouTube Kids Content Is Absolutely Terrifying”, and my jaw dropped. In that video, he shows examples of grotesque, overs**ualized (F***sh-hinting) themes, g*re, bizarre “kid content” — all monetized or at least tolerated by YouTube — while creators who try to raise the alarm get demonetized or muted. This double standard is unacceptable.

In this reaction, I’ll expose:

The worst moments he highlights — what we shouldn’t be letting kids see

How YouTube’s policies (especially for “made for kids”) are weak and reactive, not proactive

Why creators exposing these problems are punished (ad limits, strikes)

What YouTube could do differently — and what you, as a viewer, can demand

YouTube seems quick to demonetize or disable creators who expose problems — while letting the content itself persist. That’s protecting the problem more than protecting children.
The policy says videos labeled “for kids” get stricter review and quality checks. But YouTube still fails to catch many videos disguised as children’s content that are disturbing, as academic studies show.
Channels exploit trending characters, keywords (like “Minecraft,” “Peppa,” “learn colors”) to appear kid-friendly while pushing shock or grotesque content. That’s not just oversight — that’s exploitation.
The platform gains revenue by allowing high view volumes. If channels get views by skating the edge, YouTube has incentive to tolerate them unless forced to act.
Meanwhile, creators calling them out get punished — an anti-audit mechanism.
