Mesa police officers shoot man who pointed gun at them

Mesa, AZ - A man was shot by police officers who were responding to a call about a family fight in Mesa, authorities said.

The police shooting occurred just after midnight at the 900 block of S. Pasadena, near Mesa Drive and Southern Avenue, according to the Mesa Police Department.

When two officers responded to the scene, the suspect came out of the home and pointed a gun at them. That prompted both officers to fire their duty weapons at the 33-year-old man, police said.

The suspect was provided medical attention at the scene before being taken to a hospital. He has been stabilized and is expected to survive, according to Mesa police.

The department added that once the suspect is released from the hospital, he will be booked into jail on charges that will include domestic violence.
