MTV is pulling the plug on five of its music channels in the U.K., including MTV Music and MTV 80s, marking the end of an era nearly 40 years in the making. The channels will officially go dark on December 31, 2025.

Once the go-to hub for music fans, MTV has seen its audience drift toward digital platforms like YouTube and streaming services, leaving traditional TV viewership in free fall.

Former MTV host Simone Angel shared her disbelief, saying, “I’m really sad, and I’m a little bit in disbelief, and I know it’s been a long time coming.”

Parent company Paramount Global is reportedly weighing similar shutdowns in Australia and France, signaling a possible global shift away from music TV altogether. 🎵📺
