About 300 soldiers from the U.S. Army Marines artillery unit arrive at El Faro beach in the town of Arroyo, P.R. Although the details of the operation being carried out are unknown, among the weapons carried by the soldiers were M4 rifles, N 320 grenade launchers, and M 240 machine guns.

Sources on the scene indicated that the large artillery cannons were not brought in this operation, and that several women are part of the detachment. The deployment occurs at a time when President Trump confirmed that he authorized the Central Intelligence Agency to carry out covert operations inside Venezuela, and did not rule out extending military actions "by land."
