I return the statue of Shinran to Mitsumune, my hands still raw from the weight of the battle I fought to retrieve it. His eyes search mine not for the statue, but for the truth of what it cost. He sees the bruises on my skin, the tiredness in my movements, and the determination that still burns in my gaze. He knows the statue has been paid for in blood—and he questions whether more blood is what his men are truly prepared for. I tell him I understand. We all must carry burdens we did not choose. But even if the road ahead will be painted red, it is the only road I know how to walk now. I ask him not to shield his men, but to give them a choice—to walk beside me and stand for something greater.

He agrees—tentatively. He says I should not leave the statue with him. That his hands are not worthy to protect it anymore. Instead, he urges me to take it to Kyonyo. I nod, understanding his choice and his sacrifice. I respect him more for his honesty than I ever could for blind loyalty. For now, a new path opens. I make my way back to our hideout, weary but alive. Tomiko greets me. She expresses doubt about some of our new allies. Her past shadows her present, and I cannot fault her for the armor she wears over her heart. But she too fights—for the people, for our cause—and that is what matters.

At the hideout, I discover new opportunities—contracts that can earn us more resources, more mon, and more leverage in the war to come. Rest will be brief. The flame of resistance cannot be fed by good intentions alone. We need power, information, and gold. We need action.
