Shahid Afridi, former captain of the Pakistan national cricket team, is widely recognised not only for his sporting achievements but also for his extensive humanitarian work through the Shahid Afridi Foundation. His organisation has been at the forefront of education, healthcare & flood relief efforts across Pakistan.

Continuing this mission, the Shahid Afridi Foundation is hosting a star-studded charity dinner in Nottingham on 8th November 2025, to raise funds for the flood victims in Pakistan.

The event will bring together two of Pakistan’s most admired stars Shahid Afridi, founder of the Shahid Afridi Foundation & former national cricket captain & Imran Abbas, acclaimed actor & model.

The initiative aims to support the long-term rehabilitation of families who continue to rebuild their lives after the devastating monsoon floods.

Held at Blotts Country Club, the evening will bring together members of the Pakistani community, philanthropists & supporters from across the UK in a shared effort to assist those most affected by recent climate disasters.

The event will highlight the ongoing humanitarian & development work of the Shahid Afridi Foundation, whose mission is to uplift underprivileged communities through education, healthcare, clean water access, sports development & emergency relief.

Afridi, known for his leadership & philanthropy, has long championed education particularly for girls from marginalised backgrounds.

Through SAF’s collaboration with the Green Crescent Trust, the foundation has successfully enrolled thousands of out of school children in Sindh & expanded access to education in remote areas of Balochistan & Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Afridi has often stated that Pakistan’s progress depends on empowering its daughters through learning, describing girls education as essential for societal transformation.

Beyond education, SAF’s humanitarian work spans multiple sectors. Its Mother & Child Health Promotion Centres & Mobile Health Units provide vital care to women & children in underserved regions, including Chakwal, Quetta, Turbat & Nagarparkar.

These mobile clinics deliver free maternal, neonatal & paediatric healthcare, ensuring that quality medical services reach even the most isolated communities.

The foundation has also undertaken large-scale housing & water projects for flood-affected families, completing over 350 homes in Sindh & Balochistan.

Through its Water Project Initiative, SAF has installed solar powered water pumps in off-grid areas, providing clean drinking water & easing one of the most pressing challenges faced by local residents.

Imran Abbas, who has captivated audiences for more than 2 decades through television & film, adds his influence & compassion to the cause.

His participation underscores the growing role of Pakistan’s creative community in advancing social & humanitarian initiatives.

The Nottingham fundraiser represents more than a charity event, it is a testament to compassion, unity & resilience. It calls upon the Pakistani diaspora & friends of Pakistan worldwide to contribute to rebuilding lives & restoring hope for families affected by the floods.
