MI6 TERROR PLOT TO REMOVE GADDAFI

Former MI5 officer Annie Machon reveals that Britain’s foreign intelligence agency, MI6, secretly funded al-Qaeda-linked militants in Libya in 1996, fifteen years before NATO’s so-called “humanitarian intervention.”

According to Machon, the operation aimed to assassinate or overthrow Muammar Gaddafi, utilising extremist networks as proxies to advance British interests. Although the plot failed, it highlighted the hypocrisy at the core of Western policy, which publicly denounced terrorism while covertly arming and financing it when it was convenient.

Machon explains that even in the mid-1990s, London’s true motives were never about democracy or human rights. Instead, the British government had focused on the “prize” of Libya’s vast oil reserves and aimed to reopen access to contracts that Gaddafi’s nationalist policies had denied to Western corporations.

What unfolded years later—the 2011 NATO intervention that destroyed Libya, killed Gaddafi, and plunged the country into chaos—was not merely a tragic accident of history. It was a continuation of a long-standing imperialist agenda.
