Governor Little: Wilder Gambling Bust Linked to Cartel Operations Beyond State Lines

Governor Brad Little spoke following the major FBI led operation in Wilder, Idaho, that uncovered an illegal gambling and animal fighting ring linked to nation wide Cartel operations.

The months long undercover investigation, conducted by the FBI in coordination with the Treasure Valley Metro Violence Crime and Gang Task Force, exposed ties to drug trafficking, animal cruelty, and weapons smuggling. Officials confirmed that approximately 400 people attended the illegal event, five individuals have been federally charged, and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detained 105 people for questioning, none of whom were minors.

Governor Little emphasized that Idaho will not tolerate Cartel Crime, illegal gambling, or the abuse of animals within the state. He praised law enforcement and federal partners for their coordinated effort to uphold law and order, stating that organized crime and cruelty “have no place in Idaho.”

Governor Little strongly condemned the criminal network, stating:

“Illegal gambling operations involving animals often accompany drug trafficking, animal abuse, illegal weapons trafficking, and large sums of money that end up in the hands of Cartel bosses. The State of Idaho provided support in the service of a warrant issued by a federal judge in connection with the illegal activities taking place in Wilder.”

The Governor’s office reaffirmed the state’s commitment to protecting communities, supporting federal task forces, and ensuring the safety of Idaho families from violent criminal enterprises and cross border trafficking operations.
