“Put that on the news. Let Trump see it.”
A video circulating online shows a woman in New York confronting ICE agents who detained her family member shortly after they left a scheduled hearing at immigration court at 26 Federal Plaza.

According to an August 2025 investigation by The Guardian, approximately 228,000 people have been arrested, and around 59,000 remain in detention since Donald Trump returned to power. The data highlight an aggressive escalation in immigration enforcement nationwide.

During Joe Biden’s term as president, ICE removals reached their highest level in a decade with roughly 271,000 deportations in the 2024 fiscal year, according to CBS News. Now Trump appears poised to surpass even that record as his administration doubles down on mass arrests and deportations.

Critics say these operations have targeted families, long-time residents and people with no criminal history, spreading fear across immigrant communities in cities such as New York and Chicago.
