The 8th suspected drug boat has been blown up by the U.S.

A lot of people are whining about how the U.S. Coast Guard and Navy have been sinking 'alleged' drug boats. Well, let's put that word 'alleged' into perspective:

A boat is seen racing through international waters at a high rate of speed. It's headed from open water toward American territorial waters. Typically it's a 'bullet shape' boat with 3 or 4 huge outboard motors shoving it through the water about as fast as is possible. The boat is running in a 'zig zag' pattern [risky at these speeds] which is a great way of reducing its 'signature' on radar.

Now, this is suspicious on the face of it so let's get into more detail: the boat can be seen to be holding large plastic-looking packages bound with duct tape. These packages fill pretty much every square foot of available space on the boat so they must mean a lot to the guys who are driving this high speed motorboat.

Maybe they are carrying donated organs that just "absolutely, positively, has to get there the same day." Maybe they are carrying perishable such as Ostrich eggs, Fresh caviar, and Goat's milk. Hmmm. Maybe, just maybe, they are carrying huge quantities of Cocaine, Heroin, Fentanyl, or some other such deadly [hence illegal] drugs.

So the Navy / Coast Guard Sea Stallion helicopter comes overhead and demands they stop the boat. The special public address system of the boat generates over 200db so that no amount of outboard motor noise will drown out their words. The boys in the boat seem to understand because now they "step on the gas" and take off in a straight line at break-neck speed. No more zigzag, these guys are "on a mission." Our boys in the helicopter take this as a sign that the boat people have something to hide ... something criminal.

Either the outboard motors are taken out by Coast Guard snipers or the boat is taken out with a missile or heavy .50 Calibre machinegun. In any case, the boat stops.

Sometimes people die. Sometimes they don't. In any case, they are reaping the whirlwind of ignorance and stupidity which empowered them to try and outrun a helicopter or a warship or a Coast Guard / Navy Pursuit boat which is about as fast at they are.

No, the Americans don't always have a boat fast enough to run these smugglers down, but a Sea Stallion helicopter or an f-22 fighter jet are significantly faster than any surface vessel. Let's face it, nothing on or under the water is as fast as an airplane or a helicopter!

No, we can't always go back and prove there were drugs on the boat, but the behaviour of the crew often speaks volumes. Every year over 100,000 Americans are adversely affected by illegal drugs. These are mostly smuggled by South American drug cartels. Every year many of these Americans are left brain damaged, crippled, or dead. Factoring the precious nature of human life and the incredible financial burden the medical system has to bear ... Let's keep up the "Ocean Patrols", give boats a chance to submit to search or take drastic measures.
