Protestants today claim to be the original, Apostolic Christians - “Bible alone,” true gospel, pure church, from the start.
So, I ask for evidence: name a Protestant martyr from the first four centuries of Christianity (1st-4th c.).
I asked Perplexity to name a Protestant martyr from the first 4 centuries of Christianity. It gave me this:
"The most notable Protestant martyr from the first four centuries is John Rogers, who lived around 1500–1555 in England."
That’s off by 1,100 years - and proves the point. There are none.
So let me try with the original Apostolic Christians, be you Baptists, or Calvinists, or Lutherans, or whatever.
My dear Apostolic Protestants… as original Christians, please name one Protestant martyr from the first four Christian centuries (1st–4th c.). Provide:
• Name, date, location, surviving writings or trial record, and the Protestant church he belonged to.
• Which Protestant distinctives did he hold: sola Scriptura (against binding Tradition/Magisterium), which canon did he use for sola Scriptura, what Eucharistic doctrine did he follow, what baptismal doctrine?
• Who ordained their clergy?
• Which council did they attend or adhere to?
• Where are their congregations in, say, AD 250?
If your lineage is Apostolic, evidence should be easy.
Now is your chance. Don’t all rush.
