1,400 ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS BUSTED In Massive ICE Operation—Operation Patriot 2.0 Boston, Massachusetts

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested 1,406 people across Massachusetts between September 4 and 30 during “Operation Patriot 2.0,” targeting individuals believed to be in the country illegally. The enforcement sweep focused on “egregious criminal alien offenders,” including alleged murderers, rapists, drug traffickers, child sex predators, and members of transnational gangs like MS-13, Tren de Aragua, Trinitarios, and 18th Street. Approximately 600 of those arrested had significant criminal convictions or pending charges, while 277 had previously been ordered to leave the U.S. by the Department of Justice. ICE officials criticized local “sanctuary” policies for releasing suspects instead of transferring them to federal custody, arguing these practices compromise public safety. This marks the second major operation in Massachusetts following a similar sweep in May that resulted in roughly 1,500 arrests.

Meanwhile, in Chicago, ICE’s aggressive enforcement under Operation Midway Blitz has ignited repeated clashes between federal agents and protesters. Outside the Broadview ICE facility, demonstrators have tried to block ICE vehicles, leading to confrontations that saw the use of tear gas, pepper balls, and arrests. Activists allege that some federal tactics have crossed legal boundaries, prompting a judge’s order requiring federal agents to wear body cameras and warning against unjustified force. Chicago’s protests reflect growing national tension over immigration enforcement tactics, echoing local pushback in sanctuary states like Massachusetts.
