Biography
Ambassador Dr. Margaret Dureke is a distinguished dynamic figure, honored with the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award, in 2022 and recognized as the MLS 2023 All-Star Hometown Hero, selected as one of the Maryland Daily Record Top 100 Women in 2023, and received Honorary Doctorate in Entrepreneurship and Business Administration in 2022.

Dr. Dureke is the Founder, President, and Executive Director of WETATi Academy, a Practical Entrepreneurship Education & Empowerment nonprofit organization, located at and in partnership with the Nyumburu Cultural Center, University of Maryland, College Park. Additionally, she is the Founder of Margaret Speaks, a training platform that she uses to teach others on how to rewrite their tomorrow. She is acclaimed as an international “moxie motivational speaker” by the Washington Post and known for her expertise as a “How-to-and entrepreneurship Guru”. Dr. Dureke has academic honors from Howard University with her BA, and Juris Doctorate Degree in Law from American University, Washington College of Law. She is a serial entrepreneur, publisher, and bestselling author of numerous personal and business development books. For over three decades, she has been empowering diverse audiences, sharing insights on self-belief, mindset, how to rewrite their tomorrow, and turning challenges into achievements.
