In 1820, Washington Irving wrote "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" about an unfortunate school teacher's encounter with a local ghost story on the road in the dead of night. He encounters a terrifying rider of a jet black steed, a man with no head! Thus began one of the first recorded American Horror stories! However, over the years the rumors persist, did he write it from scratch, or was there some truth to his tale? Was the Headless Horseman real?
