For some time I have wanted a tripod extension arm to help with overhead shots and others where access is not possible from a standard tripod. Looking on Temu I could see plenty of cheap looking arms from as little as £10 bit I wanted a decent quality model although not at the £100 plus price of a Manfrotto or other high end name. The model I selected cost me £32 with free delivery. As with most items on Temu, AliExpress and the other Chinese magastores, the same items is available at a range of prices from multiple suppliers, so look around for the best price.

Delivery took an age, well about three weeks, but got here in the end and arrived well packaged and in good condition. Inside the generic box marked “ Integrated Horizontal Racketrod” was the extension arm itself, an Allen key, a weight hook, carry case and user guide. The aluminium alloy arm seems good quality, well made and with some weight to it. The carry case is better made than most but still feels a bit cheap.

The arm has a central tripod mount and can rotate and pivot around this with adjustable and lockable clamps. One side of the main arm is foam padded and both sides have lockable extensions to a maxim width of 104 cm. The retracted length is 46 cm. Above the pivot point are two standard sized accessory screw mounts. The camera head can be fitted to either end of the extension arm and a reversible ⅜/¼ inch adapter mount is supplied. A screw-in weight suspension hook is included which can be attached to the other end of the arm when a heavy camera is fitted.

That is pretty much it. The arm feels heavy duty and well made and I say is of professional quality. The action of the extension tubes and of the central pivot mount is smooth and fluid with fine adjustments easy to make.

This is a decent quality piece of kit and well worth the price.
