Meringue Ghost Cookies

2 egg whites
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
3/4 cup fine sugar
Heat oven to 200°, and bake for one hour. Shut the oven off after they have baked for an hour, and leave them sitting in the oven with the door shut for at least one more hour.
