This is hard for me to watch because it reminds me of someone I was with in 2022. I wanted us to watch this together, but I never got a chance to. So every scene reminds me of her. I've wanted an old fashion romance my whole life, but in this culture, that's like a needle in a haystack. I gave up my virginity when I was 22 because playing it the old fashion way wasn't working and I gave into peer pressure.

That started a long path that started with a bad marriage, a divorce, and bad relationships post divorce. When I finally stood my ground and refused to date anyone who didn't agree with saving sex for marriage and following God's way, I found myself alone. I hold out hope for a special lady--and I've met special ladies, but they never took to me, not really sure if I was serious or not then, for some reason, deciding not to trust me. Everyone had baggage--if you want a relationship in your late 50's without baggage, you will be alone.

Still, I miss her desperately. For me, the time was right, the person was right, and it all exploded in my face and here I am again, living day to day with nothing but money and luxury. Valentine's day is the day the knife in my heart is twisted and driven deeper. I have Christ, and I hold out hope against hope, knowing to die alone with Christ is better than dying with friends and no hope beyond with the man who gave everything for me before I was born, when I didn't deserve it.
