Title: Millennial Kingdom

Text: Revelation 20:1-15

Vital Verse: “Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, holding the key of the abyss and a great chain in his hand. 2 And he laid hold of the dragon, the serpent of old, who is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years”— Revelation 20:1-2

Nugget to Nibble: It is difficult to imagine a world without the evil influence of Satan. Yet Revelation chapter 20 describes the complete cessation of his activity. First, an angel descends from heaven, binds Satan with a great chain, casts him into the abyss, and seals it—forcing him to remain confined for one thousand years. When the millennial reign concludes, Satan is released for a short time, only to be captured again and cast into the place of eternal torment.
Key Stages in Satan’s Downward Defeat
Satan is cast out of heaven.— Revelation 12:7-9
Satan chained, cast in the abyss, its sealed.— Revelation 20:1-3
Satan captured and thrown into the lake of fire.— Revelation 20:10
In that lake of fire, Satan joins the beast (the Antichrist) and the false prophet. The unholy trinity is reunited to experience what they desired most—existence apart from the presence of God.

Tragically, countless others will share their fate. John records,
“I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne... and the sea gave up the dead which were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead which were in them; and they were judged, every one of them according to their deeds.” — Revelation 20:11–13
Every individual or group who rejects the redemptive grace of God will find their final existence in the lake of fire.
