This woman has an ugly name, Gomer.
Today’s story is one of betrayal
Hosea was a prophet
But the most serious problem wasn’t political – it was spiritual.
Hosea 2:13: “(Israel) decked herself with rings and jewelry, and went after other lovers, but me she forgot, declares the Lord.”
Marrriage holds so much promise and potential.
Marriage holds the seeds of disappointment, abuse and betrayal.
"Go, take to yourself an adulterous wife and children of unfaithfulness, because the land is guilty of the vilest adultery in departing from the LORD."
“Thus saith the Lord,” Hosea replied, “Israel has decked herself with rings and jewelry,
and went after her lovers, but me she forgot."
We are the adulterers.
“I will betroth you to me forever; I will betroth you in righteousness and justice, in love and compassion. I will betroth you in faithfulness, and you will acknowledge the LORD.”(Hos 2:19-20)
God’s love is always corrective—not condemnatory.
Mercy triumphs over judgment!
He is called the Bridegroom of the church
