Dublin Firefighter Terrence Crosbie Guilty Of Rape In Boston During Last Year’s St. Patrick’s Day.
Jurors delivered a guilty verdict Friday afternoon in the retrial of Terrence Crosbie, a Dublin firefighter accused of sexually assaulting a woman in Boston during last year’s St. Patrick’s Day festivities.
The victim, 28 at the time, testified that she had consensual sex with Crosbie’s roommate at the Omni Parker Hotel after meeting him during a night out at the Black Rose. She said she later fell asleep in another bed in the room and awoke to find Crosbie, 39, raping her. After the incident, she went to Massachusetts General Hospital, where she reported the assault.
“We’re absolutely elated,” prosecutor Erin Murphy said following the verdict. “From the beginning, we believed and supported the survivor, who showed tremendous courage in coming forward.”
This was the second trial in the case after the first jury was unable to reach a verdict. Murphy said the prosecution remained confident throughout.
“We always knew she was telling the truth,” Murphy said. “The challenge was anticipating the defense — that it was simply her word against his — and countering outdated biases that can still influence juries.”
Closing arguments concluded Wednesday morning, and jurors deliberated for less than three days before reaching their decision.
District Attorney Kevin Hayden praised the survivor’s resilience: “The jury listened to her testimony and the surrounding evidence. She had the strength to go through this process twice, and she deserves to be commended for that.”
Authorities said Crosbie traveled to Boston in 2024 with members of the Dublin Fire Brigade. After being interviewed by police on March 16, prosecutors said he attempted to leave the country earlier than planned, booking a flight for 10:10 p.m. that night — days ahead of his scheduled return. He was stopped by Massachusetts State Police before takeoff and removed from a plane preparing to depart around 7 p.m.
Crosbie’s sentencing is set for October 30, and prosecutors have not yet announced what sentence they will seek. His wife and family declined to comment as they exited the courthouse.
