Freeloader Cardinal

Usually adult birds continue to feed their young a day or two after they leave the nest. After that the young fend for themselves. However, it's late October and the grayish cardinal is still quickly fluttering its wings to beg its Dad to feed it--and the Dad is still doing it. We think something is not right with the youngster. My husband has named him "Captain Dummy Pants."
