Ralph Waldo Emerson, in his 1841 essay on Self Reliance, famously wrote these words:

"A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of small minds."

One could easily substitute the words, "Jew hatred and antisemitism" for, "foolish consistency." For what is more foolish and consistent, in the antisemitic imagination, than that there is an 'evil Jew' lurking behind every calamity, conflict, contagion, corruption, market correction? In their minds, any conspiracy (you name it) will have behind it, lurking, an 'evil Jew'.

Without doubt, antisemitism—cloaked today in fashionable 'anti-Zionism'—is an alarming indicator of the abandonment of reason and rational thought in a society. Antisemitism truly is the hobgoblin of small minds and it is an accurate barometer of rising violent fascism and the Islamification of a nation.

For this reason, Australian citizenship should not be granted to anyone who harbours vile antisemitism and who unashamedly indoctrinates their children with the same deranged ideology.

This deranged ideology and vile antisemitism is not compatible with Australian values and fair minded Aussies should call it out wherever it raises its ugly head.

I was honoured to stand in solidarity with Jewish Australians and speak at the Never Again Is Now rally against antisemitism in Queens Gardens, Brisbane on Sunday.
