In this quick and easy tutorial, I'll show you the two crucial command-line tools you should be running regularly—ideally weekly, monthly, or whenever your system feels off—to keep your Windows 11 PC (or any modern Windows version) running smoothly and cleanly.

We'll use two commands that work hand-in-hand:

DISM (Deployment Image Servicing and Management): This makes sure your core Windows installation image is healthy and up-to-date.

SFC (System File Checker) /scannow: This compares all your current system files against the known-good image to repair any corruption.

If you skip the first step, you could be repairing your system with corrupted files! We'll show you how to run both consecutively and correctly using an elevated Command Prompt ("Run as Administrator").

📝 The Two Essential Commands
You must run these in an Administrator Command Prompt (Type "command" in the search bar, right-click, and select "Run as administrator").

1. DISM Restore Health (Run this one FIRST!)
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
NOTE: This can take a while and often pauses around 62.3%—be patient!

2. System File Checker (SFC) Scan Now (Run this one SECOND!)
SFC /scannow
This will verify and repair corrupted files against the healthy image you just ensured.
