“Holy” — Set Apart, Not Slang

WORD CHECK: HOLY
We use “holy” for everything — holy cow, holy molè, holy crap — but the Bible uses it for one thing: God.
Strong’s Concordance:
Hebrew — qādôsh (קָדוֹשׁ, H6918): sacred, set apart, pure.
Greek — hagios (ἅγιος, G40): consecrated, different, blameless.
Scriptures:
Leviticus 20:26 — “You shall be holy to Me, for I the LORD am holy.”
1 Peter 1:15–16 — “Be holy in all your conduct.”
“Holy” means set apart for God. It’s not a reaction word — it’s an identity word.
We were called to be holy — not common, not blended in.
👉 So, next time someone says “holy crap,” remember: you’re talking about something sacred.
