From "Tales of the American Empire", Carlton Meyer examines the anti-competition nature of the Empire, a duly inherited trait from its parent, the British Empire. Germany was becoming a strong competitor in mechanical production during the "Industrial Revolution", so much so that both Britain and the US sought ways to curb the German ambition for excelling in the new technology of the day. By the end of World War 2, the Americans had succeeded in establishing themselves in a dominant role within Germany, a role which they would not relinquish, even today.
