Alastair Crooke, former diplomat discusses the current state of affairs between the US and Russia.

Trump is a master of deception, but the question is, is he in control of the US, can he gain control of the US?

For the moment, it looks like the answer is no. Is this what Putin assess the situation as?

Its unclear. Putin looked remarkably calm about Tomohawke missiles, when Trump first proposed it. He said essentially, they aren't a big problem our air defence can deal with it. But it will damage our relationship with the US.

After Trump said, ah, no, sorry Zelensky, we really need them for the US, to protect ourselves, we can't give all our weapons away.

Putin then said, Tomohawkes are really bad. We will react militarily against the US.

But is Trump in control of the US government? Probably not entirely.

So we will have to wait and see. Once the mid-Term elections are completed next year. We will probably see Trump's true colours, whatever they might be.
