Canadians say they’re proud to “Buy Canadian.”

A new National Post poll shows that 76 % of Canadians are willing to pay more for Canadian-grown food — even when American food costs less.

But here’s the question: why does food grown in Canada cost more than food shipped thousands of miles from the U.S.?

In this short, I look at how carbon taxes, red tape, and endless regulation make local food more expensive — and why we’ve come to accept it as normal.
