A new open letter from so-called “prominent Afrikaners” has gone viral in South Africa — claiming to speak on behalf of the entire Afrikaans-speaking community in response to Donald Trump’s remarks about Afrikaner refugees. But these elite academics and media figures absolutely do not speak for me — or for most ordinary Afrikaners.
