NASA's Supersonic X-59 Test Flight

Built by Lockheed Martin’s Skunk Works, NASA’s X-59 supersonic jet took off from Air Force Plant 42 in Palmdale, California, marking the first test of a jet designed to fly faster than sound without the explosive boom. The aircraft can cruise at 17 kilometers feet and reach speeds up to 1,488 MPH, producing a soft “thump” instead of a sonic blast
